Exchange says software upgrade over the weekend led to outage

With the unexpected glitch, the data system had difficulty processing options quotes, The Financial Times reported. That triggered a shutdown that lasted about 30 minutes Monday afternoon.A 3-hour outage of the Nasdaq exchange in August prompted the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to call a meeting of U.S. exchange operators, which took place last week.The meeting was held to discuss options for avoiding outages, such as the one that occurred Monday, the Financial Times said.
