Finding new layer in human eye could help in treatment of eye diseases
NOTTINGHAM, England, June 11 () -- Scientists in Britain say they've identified a previously undetected layer in the human cornea, a finding that could help surgeons treating eye diseases.Researchers at the University of Nottingham said the discovery could improve outcomes for patients undergoing corneal grafts and transplants.The new layer has been dubbed the Dua's Layer after Professor Harminder Dua, who discovered it, a university release said Tuesday."This is a major discovery that will mean that ophthalmology textbooks will literally need to be rewritten," Dua said.
