Spartacus Recasting Underway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
A few weeks after Andy Whitfield officially dropped out of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" so he could resume treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, it looks like the producers are officially moving forward towards recasting the title character. Interested parties must have an authentic British accent and be prepared to sign a three-year contract. Last week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], exec producer Steven S. DeKnight told me that the production would either up shop or recast. It looks like they moving forward with the latter.
I was heart-broken when he got sick, I had just watched the entire first season within the span of one week when I heard. I am just watching the movie "Spartacus" (1960) with Kirk Douglas and, I have to say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I enjoyed the newer iteration much more. Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], despite it's cartoony-ness, the new show is also more accurate to the what historians know about the real Spartacus.
Whichever actor they choose to take over,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I agree that this is a good excuse to take the story from another angle. The next part of the story is Spartacus building his army of slaves and tearing across Italy, it would be interesting move the primary perspective of the show to that of one of his followers. That way they could inconspicuously avoid close-ups of Spartacus and they could tell the same story,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and this would be a good way to ease the audience into the newly cast Spartacus.
