Expanded 'Simpsons' section of Universal Orlando is now open
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 23 () -- Universal Orlando Resort in Florida says its new Springfield area, which recreates the setting of the animated TV series "The Simpsons," is open for business. Anchored by the popular simulated roller-coaster attraction, "The Simpsons Ride," the newly-themed area includes shops featured on the show, as well as eateries such as Krusty Burger, Moe's Tavern and Lard Lad, and a new "Twirl 'n' Hurl" ride based on the characters Kang and Kodos. Chief Wiggum, Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob are among the "Simpsons" characters who will be walking around the theme park to greet visitors."Fans who love both 'The Simpsons' and the ride at Universal Orlando will now be able to experience a much deeper immersion into The Simpsons world with the launch of Springfield," Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products, said in a statement Thursday."I hope everyone has as much pure, irresponsible fun as we did writing the ride, signs and food menus. We raise our Flaming Moe's to ye," said James L. Brooks, executive producer of "The Simpsons.""When creating Springfield, moncler uk, we wanted to make guests truly feel like they're part of the record-breaking animated show," said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. "Now fans can become part of the Simpsons family and step inside the same places Homer and his family visit on a regular basis."
