MacLennan's own time is so often good enough, that the narrow finish was a bit of a surprise to some. What wasn't a surprise was his victory at the Bluenose in May, followed by an appearance in the 10-kilometre event at the Joe Earle Victoria Day Road Races in?Trenton the next day. "I missed the Boston Marathon qualifying time by one minute," he said. "But once you do it the first time, you know you can finish the thing and then you can work on improving your time.
"I made it to Boston a few times, anyways."
So, how does this course compare to others that the 45-year-old has run?
"It's got a little more of an uphill grade than you might think," he said. "Uphill running isn't my strength - I much prefer going downhill. But overall, it's a really nice course for runners and for spectators - because it's a loop, you'll pass by the finish line four times."
MacLennan packs on miles of training all summer, and does speed training at the Pictou?YMCA in the winter. Most of his runs take place in the hilly areas and mountain bike trails of Scotsburn,[url=http://woolrichoutletde.albirank.net/][b]Woolrich Deutschland Outlet[/b][/url], generally five to 10 miles per day, along with a 20-mile long run (no kidding) on?Sundays.
Training aside, he doesn't really have a secret to success.
