*Update (9/21/2011): While the colorway reminds me of The U, this is actually the "Cannon" colorway of the LeBron 9. The U will be getting its own separate colorway.*
No matter how big online media gets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there is still a sense of prestige in being on the cover of a print magazine. It's one thing to debut a new product on the Internet, but when companies and publishers work together to produce a piece that you can see at the newsstand or at Borde. I mean,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Barnes and Noble, it looks and feels infinitely cooler. Or maybe I'm just getting old and nobody under the age of 20 cares about print media, I'm not sure yet.
So when a new colorway for the Air Max LeBron 9 makes the cover of a sneaker magazine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's bound to catch some eyeballs rather than just clicking on the next page at StumbleUpon. Featured in the latest issue of SNKR FRKR magazine (Australia),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this rather loud colorway is just screaming to be worn by the Miami Hurricanes this upcoming college basketball season. Which would be rather appropriate because starting this season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], three schools will be wearing LeBron-branded Nike gear, and one of them just happens to The U.
While other colorways of the Air Max LeBron 9 that have leaked look to be taking a more function over style approach, this tribute to the Hurricanes seems to show that people don't have to worry about the brand taking itself too seriously for now.
