New chief deputy in clerk's office,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Otero County Clerk Robyn Holmes immediately thought of Denise Guerra to take over as chief deputy clerk after Mary Quintana accepted the position of New Mexico deputy secretary of state on Nov. "It's all going to be good,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Holmes said. "Denise (Guerra) was the first person I thought of because I know she is very capable of performing the job (as Otero County's chief deputy clerk). I feel very comfortable having her as my chief deputy."Guerra is currently the county clerk's election's coordinator and has been since 1992 when Duran was the Otero County clerk. "Robyn and I started working in the Clerks office around the same time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Guerra said. "I actually started in 1984 then Robyn started in 1985 under Andy Wynham. I was working in the office part time in 1984. I have worked under five County Clerks which includes Mary Quintana and now Robyn (Holmes)."Guerra will begin her new duties as deputy clerk on Jan. "I really enjoy working with the people. I've always been a hard worker. I think it's an honor for Robyn to ask me to be her chief deputy clerk."The Alamogordo native and mother of Adrian,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 25,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Crystal, 22 and Jasmine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 16 said she did work in the Bernalillo County Clerk's Office for one year between 1989 and 1990 but returned to the Otero County office and Alamogordo."I like working with the election workers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Guerra said. "I give the training for the election workers. I really like dealing with people who come through our doors. I also like the people that I work with in the county clerk's office. I really like working with the ladies. We're a good team."She said she has always liked working with Holmes."I feel Robyn and I have worked good together and we'll continue to work good together,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Guerra said. "I like working with the candidates that run for an office. If I don't know an answer to a question from a candidate or a voter,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I will find it for them."She said she believes every American should take voting very seriously."I think people should get more involved in voting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Guerra said. "Voters should find out about the candidate running for that particular office. They should go to the party,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Democrat or Republican,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], chairperson and find out about the candidates. They should find out about the candidates' background and their experience in the office. There is information available about the candidates through literature or by going to the candidate forums."She said she has experience in all the areas of the county clerk's office."I have recorded property documents and marriage licenses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Guerra said. "I also assist the probate judge. We also deal a lot with abstract title companies. I will miss working as the elections coordinator but I will still be part of that team as the chief deputy clerk. I know who ever gets the election coordinator position will be a good worker. I want the person to continue to be that hard worker that I was in the position."She said she looks forward to working with Holmes."I just want continue to do a good job for this office,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Guerra said. "I have been doing the job with Mary (Quintana) but I was surprised that Robyn asked me to be her chief deputy clerk."Holmes said she believes Guerra is a strong leader."Denise knows her election law well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Holmes said. "She (Guerra) is one of the leading elections technicians in the state since we went to the statewide system. She is on a small statewide committee that works on different problems with our statewide system."Holmes said she just believes in Guerra."She is very loyal to each customer or client that walks through our doors," she said. "It does not matter what party affiliation the person belongs to or group. Denise takes her time and works with the person until she is satisfied that person has got the information or answers that they needed from the county clerk's office."
