Murdoch and sons survive annual shareholder vote
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 () -- Rupert Murdoch will keep his position as chairman of 21st Century Fox, a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said.In the company's annual election, Murdoch received 463 million votes. There were 46 million votes cast against him, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.Murdoch's came in fifth behind three new board candidates and Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey, who received 471 million votes of support and 39 million votes of disapproval.But Murdoch, 82, did better than his two sons. James Murdoch, 40, the deputy chief operating officer of the company, received 411 positive votes and 100 million disapproving.
