Mulberry for Target Gilt Groupe Sale,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
My love for Mulberry started earlier this year when I was online one day and had a look at the beautiful Mulberry Bayswater bag and decided I just have to have one! I plan on investing in one of these sometime but since I'm planning a trip right now it will just have to wait,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], especially since they run at about $1100. But I keep loving them and can't wait for the day I get one! I then found out that Mulberry is coming out with a line for Target. When I heard about this I got super excited! I'm not usually one to buy cheaper bags,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is the one thing I like to splurge on but since this was a Mulberry for Target line I definitely wanted to consider looking at them and maybe even purchasing! I was also hoping that they would make a bag that looked like the Bayswater bag because I would grab it in a heartbeat! This could definitely hold me over until I get the real one right??
(Below are two Mulberry Bayswater bags,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'm in love!!)
The Mulberry for Target line will not be released until October. When I got an email from Gilt Groupe announcing that they would be having a sale with the Mulberry for Target line on August 20th I was SO excited! Could I really snatch up one of these bags before they are even released in stores?? I looked at the time the sale would start, 9am Pacific Time for me and I realized I would not be able to be at a computer at that time. I work early in the morning at one office,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then at 9am when the sale was starting I would be on the train on my way to a different office. I was a little bummed but figured I could just log on at 10 when I get to work and if there were any left then I could buy one.
Well August 20th rolled around and the first thing I thought of in the morning was the Mulberry for Target sale. I hadn't seen the bags yet but I was anxious to know what they looked like. I hopped on the train at 5:15am and started going through my tweets. I saw so many fashionistas and bloggers talking about the sale on Gilt Groupe and someone even posted a picture of what one of the bags looked like! OMG it is so adorable, I had to have it! A sudden sense of panic began to go over me beause I remembered one of my friends past experience with Gilt Groupe. She woke up super early for a DVF sale ready to battle it out and get the pieces she had been lusting over. She logged on started shopping, grabbed the items she wanted and when she want to purchase them the items had been taken out of her bag and purchased by someone else!! See that's the thing with Gilt Groupe if you wait too long your items can be taken right from under you and you're left with nothing. As I walked to work from the train I kept thinking about my friends experience, kept thinking about the hype of the sale and started feeling anxious about it. I had to find a way to access the sale at 9am.
I saved my credit card information on the Gilt website and thought that maybe I could just try and buy the bag from my phone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and if I'm lucky it will work and I can purchase one. But my phone isn't always reliable when it comes to the internet so I had to do it from a computer. Maybe I could get one of my fabulous friends to log on and grab one for me. With a few clicks they could do it and I could be the proud happy owner of a Mulberry. Another problem though,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I hadn't seen what all of the bags look like so what if there is another fabulous one that I like more than the blue one? I wouldn't even know because I couldn't look at them since I wouldn't be at the computer!! This feeling of desperation started coming over me and the only solution I could think of was to be at my computer at 9am.
I arrived at work and whipped through everything I needed to do. I was finished with my assignments before 7am. As I sat there wasting time I got the brilliant idea to just leave an hour early, get home at 9am for the sale, purchase the bag and then have time to get to the other office by 10am. I sat there contemplating this for a while and finally I decided I had to do it. I emailed my boss,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], let her know that I had finished everything and needed to head out early. I had no idea what the train schedule was at that time but I could only hope that it would get me to my computer by 9am. I walked as fast as I could to the station. On a side note let me add that I decided to wear my brand new Franco Sarto boots for the first time ever,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they are a little snug and not the most comfortable right now. I decided to start breaking them in that day. So there I was downtown San Francisco walking as fast as I painfully could to the station. I arrived at the station, and the train I needed to get on was arriving in two minutes, what luck! I hopped on the train and tried to calm myself down during the ride by listening to my ipod. All of a sudden before one of the stops the train stops. I feel a panic rise over me, there better not be a delay! Finally after less than a minute the train keeps going. I get to my stop and rush up the stairs and to my car as fast as I can. I hope in my car and race home. Right before my exit I see that I got an email on my phone so I check it real quick and what is it? None other than an email from Gilt Groupe reminding me about the sale. I check the clock make sure I'm doing ok and see that I'm making good time. As I pull into my parking lot I park right next to our entrance in the no parking zone of course and rush into the house. I have 6 minutes to spare. I log onto Gilt Groupe relax and get ready to purchase my bag.
I sit there and refresh the page, it's 11:58, two minutes to go. Finally I see something pop up that sales new sales have started and to click to refresh. Immediately I get on there and quickly scan over the gorgeous bags. I actually see a black satchel that I might want more than the large blue one. I can't decide between the two. Do I get the black smaller one or the blue larger one? I keep going back and forth for a few seconds and remember my friends experience and not getting her items so I quickly clicked the black one to add to my cart. "Sold Out." Omg! I couldn't believe it, so I decide to go for the blue one, I click to add it to my cart "sold out." I sat there with my jaw hanging open. I could not believe it. Both items that I had wanted were gone in a minute. Literally it was a minute,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the sale started at 9:00am, and by 9:01 I couldn't get the bags. I was so upset I didn't know what to do. I just skipped work,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rushed home and all for what? Nothing? I didn't know what to do so I sat there refreshing the page. In hopes that maybe some will come available. My friend did say she had hers in her cart and people still took them so maybe someone is sitting there with "my" bag in their cart and I could snatch them up! I sat there, refreshing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], refreshing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], refreshing. I was so sad, and was even considering going and just shelling out $1100 on the Bayswater just to make me feel better. As I sat there refreshing the black satchel something amazing happened,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it suddenly was available! I added it to my cart and in two clicks the bag was mine!! I could not believe that just happened to me! I sat there for a bit and started thinking, what if the black one is too small and I should have gone with the large quilted denim satchel? So I decided to try and see if I could snatch one. I sat there for a couple of minutes and miraculously one became available and in two clicks it was MINE!! Mission accomplished! I was so excited about these purchases,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], my first Mulberry bags and both for under $100?? It completely made my day I felt giddy and happy the rest of the day! I love Gilt Groupe but wow it is a battle on there! Guilt Groupe, only you would make me go so crazy over a line being released at Target.
