Clemmer is strikingly handsome in person. He is affable and gallant. He speaks in sentence fragments, sometimes one word long, as if he's being zapped by his thoughts. His laugh is maniacal. He won't reveal his age when asked.
Why do so many people - men and women - get stuck in fashion ruts? Serious fashion ruts, like yellow hair, Betty Boop skirts or tie-dyed T-shirts when they're 56 years old?
They remember a time when they were the happiest, and a lot of times that was some time ago. . What they try to do is surround themselves with things that were going on at that time.
Do you have a favourite store in Toronto where you like to shop when you're doing a makeover?
I like to hit a lot of smaller stores that carry Canadian designers because I'm dressing so many different body types I really have to mix it up. What's the oldest thing in your closet?
I have a Lee jean jacket that was probably one of the first pieces of clothing I had to buy myself. I still have it. I think it's almost vintage now. I get a lot of flak from my friends, but I like it.

I would say in 20 minutes I can be done. I'm good now at purging things that don't look good on me. I'll wash my face, put on a light moisturizer. I'm happy with jeans, a T-shirt and a pair of sneakers.
They're amazing. If I weren't wearing this suit, I'd probably have them on. They're very comfortable; they're a high top,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which I always like. I have my mother's skinny ankles, so I don't mind covering those.
On the show, you're a ham. Where do you get that?
I would think my mom,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], for sure. I was the youngest. I'm the only boy in the family. I would do anything to get attention. I think I've calmed down since I've aged. My poor sisters. My sisters would be having a birthday party, and I'd come in, dressed in my mom's shoes, doing some big song-and-dance number, and they wanted me dead. Anything to get attention. I'd throw my face in the cake.
Where does the show find these people?
Because the show has now been on the air for five years, a lot of people know of it. Initially, a lot of people would nominate someone. Someone that they worked with. I always loved those stories. An employer really would like an employee,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but thought their dress was just so inappropriate - short, short skirts, and really revealing tops - but didn't have the guts to come up to them and say, "Look, this is an office, this is a bank,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you cannot be wearing this." So they would nominate them on the show so we would do the dirty work. The boss kind of got away scot-free.
Siblings. A lot of kids, I am finding now, are doing it for their moms.
How do people go so long without anyone saying anything to them about the way they look?
I would like to think that people are quite sweet and don't want to offend anybody,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The show is the excuse they've needed to really turn things around.
Do you know how many maintain it afterwards,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
A lot of them do. A lot of them I'm Facebook friends with. We exchange emails. It's like an extended family, 186 brothers and sisters. I just finished shooting the 186th episode. A lot of them, you want to find out about their stories. You get really close to them and they open up to you. You find out stuff you don't even know about your best friend.
When a girl is living with her family at 45 and has never dated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when she is now engaged and getting ready to get married and wants you to help her pick out a dress,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you want to know about that.
