Brandt Snedeker edges Dustin Johnson for Canadian Open victory
OAKVILLE, Ontario, July 28 () -- Third-round leader Brandt Snedeker carded a 2-under-par 70 Sunday, good enough to retain the advantage and claim the Canadian Open for his sixth career PGA win.Snedeker grabbed the top spot Saturday after second-round leader Hunter Mahan withdrew to be with his wife during the birth of the couple's first child, then held off Dustin Johnson down the stretch Sunday for the triumph. Johnson briefly tied Snedeker with a birdie on the 16th hole, but followed with an errant tee shot on the next hole, resulting in a triple-bogey at Glen Abbey Golf Club.Snedeker, meanwhile, closed at 16-under-par 272, three shots better Johnson (2-under 70), William McGirt (68), Matt Kuchar (71) and Jason Bohn (71).Sharing sixth place at minus-12 were Mark Wilson (70), John Merrick (71) and Roberto Castro (70).
