We slowly desensitized Brandon to his shoes. Left them lying around and pretended to put the shoes on a favorite teddy bear and made a joke out of it. This was for about a week.

Once he was excited for them to be on his feet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we allowed him to crawl around in the house while wearing them. Sure enough, he would forget they were on and get up and start walking around. It was alot easier to have him wear the shoes in the house to get practice and then it wasn't such a big deal when we were out.
I have to second the comments about making sure the shoes fit. My 23-month-old dd loves to wear her shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I can tell when it's time to go shoe-shopping because she starts protesting putting them on. She too needed a size "wide." I found this out when I had her fitted for shoes at Stride-Rite. The clerk said little ones often need wides because of the baby fat on their feet.
