Just weeks after the Games ended, Barilla announced it would not extend its three-year contract with Bode Miller. A company spokesperson said three-year deals were standard,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pointing to a similar contract with Olympic champion skier Alberto Tomba. "The program with Bode was done. As a member of the Oakland Athletics, Giambi developed a reputation as one of baseball most feared power hitters. His offensive prowess enabled him to win the American League MVP award in 2000.
