Company claims NBA bans basketball shoe because of undue competitive advantage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Athletic Propulsion Labs claims that the NBA has decided to ban its basketball shoe for the upcoming season because it creates an "undue competitive advantage" by allegedly increasing a player's vertical leap,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. The NBA denies the shoe was "banned" but did confirm to Sporting News that the shoe will not be allowed on its courts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
According to a press release from APL,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the company was notified by a senior NBA official about the ruling. "League rules regulate the footwear that players may wear during an NBA game. "The Load 'N Launch device is implanted in a cavity in the forefoot of the shoe and serves as a 'launch pad' by taking the energy exerted by the player and increasing lift with the aid of an intricate,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], spring-based propulsion system."
The APL ban by the NBA comes on the 25-year anniversary of the league banning Michael Jordan's Air Jordan 1.
