Benedict Cumberbatch named British Artist of the Year
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 () -- The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles says it will honor actor Benedict Cumberbatch at its Britannia Awards ceremony this fall.Cumberbatch, 37, is to receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year at the event, which is to take place Nov. 9 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The prize presentation will be broadcast on BBC America Nov. 10."Benedict Cumberbatch has had a remarkable year, and as one of the United Kingdom's leading talents he truly exemplifies the continued respect that British talents have garnered around the globe," Gary Dartnall, chairman of BAFTA Los Angeles, said in a statement Thursday.
