Eager Knicks and 'Melo fans were quick to purchased but were confused as to what jersey number he would wear since the number 15 is retired by the Knicks in honor of two players. Earl Monroe had the number retired in his honor in 1986 and Dick McGuire,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who played with New York before Monroe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], had the same number retired for him in 1992.
According to CNBC's sports business reporter Darren Rovell,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Carmelo has not been in the top 5 in the NBA in jersey sales for 5 years.
