I stopped in to the Toms Shoes pop-up store in Venice on Friday to reconnect with the brand's founder Blake Mycoskie. And also you can't help but feel good about buying them. Not too Mycoskie's making a profit - yet. That's for 2009.
Still,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I believe Mycoskie,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who endures a sailboat in the marina (how cool is the fact that?) and works in Santa Monica, is at the forefront of a new kind of conscientious consumerism. He never visited college but is really a natural-born entrepreneur who loves to discuss everyone from Richard Branson to Ralph Lauren,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with whom he recently collaborated on the limited edition line of Toms. And that he will pay for his employees,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], all 30 of these,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to go on shoe drops with him all over the world -- so they believe in the merchandise as much as he is doing.
It is no surprise that former President Clinton became such a fan he invited Mycoskie to join his Global Initiative annual meeting in September - and gifted all of the world leaders who participated with a set of Toms shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!
