Has Ford got a winner on its hands? Undoubtedly. The main focus really moves the game on in the compact family car class. It packs a lot of technology - the most we've ever seen on a mainstream hatchback - right into a classy and spacious package. It's difficult to say what's more impressive: the caliber of the cabin, the type of the diesel engine or the mature, but still fun, driving experience. Two caveats: it's not cheap (and you will easily get carried away using the options list),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], plus we're still not big fans of the styling. However in every other area, the new Focus is the best in the class.
The dash and centre console are obtained from the latest C-MAX, and provide an uplifting mixture of modern style, premium quality and neat touches. For example,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], LED lights glow red round the door handle when you begin, before changing to some soft pink as you close the doorway. A dimmer switch above your face adjusts the lighting, which can bathe the cabin in cool purple. This works together with soft-touch materials on the facia and a piano black console to place the main focus interior on the par with the ones from Audi and BMW, certainly about the flagship Titanium X model.
I know this car is top of the range and has all of the bells and whistles onto it but £28k for any Ford Focus? I've just bought a Merc C-Class 220 CDI Elegance with extras for £28.5k - guess which is worth more in 3 year's time? I could have bought a Volvo S60 SE Lux for that price of this Focus - ridiculous. Surely the main focus ought to be priced against it's main competitor - the VW Golf? I figured Ford had learnt its lesson about pricing. With this particular kind of pricing Ford clearly think the Focus is incorporated in the next class up. Whether purchasers will have the same is another matter. Such a tussy roll!
I didn't like it when AE published the very first pictures of it at one of the premier expos last year. These photos do very little to alter that. The interior is great, I will give it that, but this is just trying too hard to be one of the other cars in Ford's lineup. Imagine a Kuga where the suspension has been came by a couple of feet. It's in effect, a squished Kuga to me and not a very good one at that. All items have been fashioned on the current Fiesta however in all cases bar the Fiesta it simply doesn't work. The Fiesta is a superb looking car but that certainly can't be said about this Focus. And 28 grand for any fully kitted out one!? Do us a favour,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that's just taking the piss! Ok, so lesser models won't be that expensive however they won't have that kit available either. For 28k I possibly could possess a half decent A4 and obtain the kit added too for nothing. Someone else said they could get an S60 for the same kind of money, point made I believe along with the gent who has just bought a Merc C class. If use this Focus, then they clearly convey more money than sense and therefore are just playing into Ford's hands, but then again they'll buy it and that's why is this so sad.

Why can you buy this whenever you might have a Kia Ceed for thousands less having a better warranty, probably better built and drives and handles much better than any family could ever hope to need. How come the motoring press so enthusiastic about the Focus's driving dynamics? Who the he'll drives these things? Lewis Hamilton and also the stig? It's a family hatch that'll take more time inside a tesco car park than elsewhere. I've never been a great fan of ford design but this takes blandness to an all new level.
What on earth are Ford smoking to have develop this? The Focus started out an awesome looking hatchback, then in 2002 it had a slight facelift, still looked good, then out came a toned down version in 2005, after which Ford messed with the looks again, now they've come up with a hideous creation so that as tested here is £28k!! Get out of it! I drive a Jag also it cost less than that. Anyone who spends 28k on the Focus that's not 4wd 200+ BHP and makes your dinner for you personally requires a health check. Buy a Mercedes like the chap above did or perhaps a Jaguar!
Appears like a Kia, has no crispness and originality the mk1 had. Having driven 2 mk2 variants on regular basis (1.4 petrol and 1.6 tdci 110), none of them felt just like a class leader apart from ride and handling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that have been absolutely five star. They were noisy, the cabin was cheaply made particularly the door cards and seat fabric, there is a gap of about 10mm in which the dashboard met the door, these were noisy on the motorway plus they felt flimsily built, especially those lightweigh doors. Hope they addressed those areas about the mk3,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because the steering/gearbox/pedals/ride/handling were fan-tas-tic! As for autoexpress declare that 'no family car has ever been so capable of stepping on the toes of premium models', may I call to mind the Fiat Stilo, whose equipment tally could simply be surpassed by a Mercedes S-Class. Well, everyone knows how unloved that car was and how poorly it sold. So, Ford beware! And 53.3mpg from the 2.0 diesel nowadays is nothing special, Citroen, Alfa Romeo,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], BMW, VW, Vauxhall all give more power minimizing fuel consumption. In short, Ford as always : mediocrity plus 10%
You have to work with Ford or perhaps be a Ford loyalist! I believe youre the stupid one here, The main focus is definitely the best in it's class anymore! Rivals have caught up rapidly and now match the Ford Focus on dynamics! Let's consider reality here, Ford isn't a Prestige Badge why is Ford Charging BMW,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mercedes sort of prices, it's just pathetic! To top it up, the Design/Styling is not worth the price because it's too poor and awful. Depp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people just won't accept mediocrity anymore especially now that there is so much alternatives and choices to Ford nowadays!
Sorry but a a few of the earlier posts are rather uninformed and therefore are only worried about the badge rather than the car!

Often "German" brands are made in other countries - does a BMW produced in the united states turn it into a "Yank tank"?
All of this hoo ha and all sorts of the oil bits for the upmarket car range from same suppliers as your cheap "common" brands.
I love this car but admit I am a little disapointed in the price -OK, you might say its because it is the titanium model but I'd be happy with a zeter 180bhp- having said that why do ALL companies charge so much more for turning the "wick"

I think the best thing it's possible to do now is attempting to order the ST MK2 version with an updated Mk3 interior plus engine (2.0T) because this car isn't gonna work, if at all possible. But with this car already proves anything can be done. Otherwise its all FAIL!!! Failed promise to deliver a shoe shine.

It's a mish-mash of an oversized grille, Audi-esque slots within the lower fringe of the bumper, triangles,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], oval shapes incorporating round fog-lights, a (stupid-looking) cut-out about the bonnet edge above the Ford badge, the peculiar shaped headlights,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the un-original looking (Astra?) side profile, horrendously styled rear lights etc. BUT PLEASE! Do your favour: If you are planning to purchase one, avoid the metallic yellow such as the plague should you aspire to recoup anything come your day you part-exchange it!
People moaning at the price. If you spec a Golf to the same standard, you can get it to £40,000! £12,000 a lot more than the Focus.
I've had every model of the Focus up to yet, but I is going to be giving this one a miss. I had been getting excited about something really different and special. All that has appeared is really a generic, boring, dull looking car.
Sorry Ford. You have carried out yourselves no favors with this particular at all. It may drive best in class, but people will go for looks first. You will find far better looking cars available in this class, and people will but the alternatives. I believe Ford have shot themselves within the foot, and I for just one think it is a genuine shame.
OK, the aesthetics of the back end have gone a little awry IMHO,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but OMG if a number of you are so traumatised through the looks overall, then you definitely mustn't have to travel far to become offended! Also, the mock indignation about price is totally irrelevant as we all know Ford's RRP bears no relation to real life - just 1 year down the road and brand new £28k RRP Ford Focuses (Foci?) will be rolling off the forecourt for three-quarters the price. No, I'm not currently a Ford driver,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but that which you have here appears like a sound product being greeted by the traditional clamouring of the rabble who disparage anything new,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then sing its praises some years downstream when the next latest version comes along.
Its amazing how on the internet you simply find people slagging off any new product,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Look at the ipad before it was release it was slated by internet forums to be absolutely rubbish and total failure but on the other hand it had been and still is a runaway success. Well the same for a lot of cars including many new BMWs and Mercs and today this Focus. The truth is all of these products have proved to be fantastic in design and use otherwise they would not be the success they're today.
Yes sure Ford charges a lot of money for that top spec model nevertheless, you dont have to invest as much and also the starting prices are just £15000 and that's before dealer discounts which Ford are so famous for.
The fact that Ford have made it possible to have so much tech is a average family hatch is just amazing and that's something you can have if you are prepared to pay fot it and want it.
When it comes to styling sure it may not be everyones bag but same was said initially about the BMW 5 6 and 7 series using the 6 and 7 heavily criticised by Jeremy Clarkson who then a few years later admitted he had second thoughts and also begining to like the
